How the Series Works

Students – Win the top awards for the entire Florida Classic Series and bragging rights for 2017! Here’s how – For 2017 there will be 3 opportunities for you to accumulate points towards the Florida Classic Series top awards.  Mark your calendars for the following events and bring your best dance moves to the floor to gather your points –

Florida Spring Classic – April 29 & 30, 2017

Ft. Lauderdale Classic – June 10 & 11, 2017

Tampa Bay Classic – September 23 & 24, 2017

Each of our three events will have their own awards and in addition to that you will accumulate points towards the Grand Finale of the 2017 Florida Classic Series which takes place at the Tampa Bay Classic 2017.

Here are some of the top awards that are up for grabs at each of our events and for the Florida Classic Series finale –

Top Bronze Male / Top Bronze Female

Top Silver Male / Top Silver Female

Top Gold Male / Top Gold Female

Top Junior / Top Jr. Couple

Top Overall Male / Top Overall Female

Teachers – Be at the top for 2017 – Our Florida Classic Series Top Teacher overall purse is now over $17, 500.  Here are the details:  attend participating Florida Classic Series events (St. Pete Classic, Ft. Lauderdale Classic, Tampa Bay Classic) and earn points based on entries and placements.  Points are added from each event attended and the total points are calculated at the Tampa Bay Classic to determent the top eight teachers for the “Series”.  Teachers/Student must be on package for each event and meet minimum entry requirements(see individual releases for requirements, details and rules).

 

Here are the three types of earning opportunities available for competing teachers:

* Pot of Gold – earned at each event based on number of entries.  From $6.00 to $15.00 per entry (See release for minimum requirements, details and rules).

 

* Top Teacher Prize Money – earned at each event based on overall teacher placement (See release for minimum requirements, details and rules).

1st Place –   $1,750

2nd Place – $1,000

3rd Place –  $500

4th Place –  $250

5th Place –  $100

 

* Florida Classic Series Top Teacher – Presented at the Grand Finale at the Tampa Bay Classic 2017, based on points earned at FCS events during the year. (See release for minimum requirements, details and rules). Teacher must attend and compete at the 2017 Tampa Bay Classic to claim your prize money.

1st Place –   $7,000

2nd Place – $4,500

3rd Place –  $2,500

4th Place –  $1,500

5th Place –  $1,000

6th Place –  $500

7th Place –  $300

8th Place –  $200
